How much can I shrink an audio file?

Will it lower the audio quality?
That's up to you. Bitrate and sample rate are adjustable, so you set the balance between size and fidelity. For speech and casual listening the difference is inaudible; for high-fidelity music you can keep the bitrate higher.
What bitrate should I choose?
128kbps is a solid all-round choice for speech and most music. Use 192–320kbps when you want high-fidelity music, and you can go lower than 128kbps for voice memos where size matters more than richness.
