Video Compressor
Browser-based video processing powered by WebCodecs
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to upload my video?
No. The video is compressed locally in your browser using the built-in WebCodecs engine, so it never leaves your device or touches a server. That keeps private clips, screen recordings and client footage entirely on your own machine.
Which video formats are supported?
MP4, MOV, AVI and WebM are all supported. You can adjust both the quality and a target file size, so you can trade a little sharpness for a much smaller file — or keep it crisp when size isn't a concern.
Is it free?
Completely free, with no sign-up and no limit on how many files you process. Because it runs on your device, the only real constraint is your computer's speed — larger and longer videos naturally take more time.
Can I get a video under 25MB for email or chat?
Yes. Set a target file size and the tool compresses to fit under it — ideal for the 25 MB limits common on email and messaging apps. For a tighter target you can also lower the resolution, which shrinks the file quickly.
Will compressing reduce the video quality?
Only as much as you choose. Quality and target size are both adjustable, so you decide the balance between clarity and file size, and you can preview the result before saving. A moderate setting usually looks fine on a phone or in a chat while cutting the size dramatically.
Can I compress several videos at once?
Yes. Add several files to the batch queue and they compress one after another, each with your chosen settings. New files go to the top of the queue so you can keep adding without losing track.
Why does compression take a while?
Because it compresses locally in your browser via WebCodecs instead of offloading to a server, the work runs on your device's CPU. That's what keeps your video private, but it also means larger, longer or higher-resolution videos take longer — a fast computer makes a big difference.
